Wheelchair Anti-Rollback Device

The Safe-T-Mate Wheelchair Anti-Rollback Device is designed to prevent a wheelchair from rolling back and away from the user as they attempt to sit down or stand up from the wheelchair. When the patient is seated, the Safe-T-Mate is in standby mode allowing for the chair to move freely in all directions. With adjustable spring tension, the advanced brake system can accommodate a variety of seat cushions used with hemi or low chairs, dual-axle or triple-axle chairs, bariatric chairs, or chairs that have flip-back armrests.

Attachment Improves Patient Safety

A lever directly contacts the underside of the seat and is mechanically linked to the brake arms. If the patient begins to stand, the brake arms clamp down on the wheels, preventing the chair from rolling backwards. When the patient is seated, the brake arms automatically unlock. Caregivers can remove the lever without affecting the operation of the anti-rollback device.

Optional Chair Exit Alarm

Designed to offer greater adjustability and increased comfort, the attachment includes the option for a chair exit alarm. An alarm specifically designed for the anti-rollback mechanism can be installed directly to the device. Installed properly, rotation of the device toward the engaged position sounds the alarm. The alarm automatically resets upon rotation away from the engaged position. The alarm is operated by a 9V battery.
