How SafeStraw Works
Made with a special one-way valve and “float” design that regulates how much fluid can be sipped through the straw at one time. When the user sucks on the straw, fluid flows through the valve and into the chamber. When the fluid travels, the float rises and then cuts off the supply, allowing roughly one teaspoon of liquid per sip.
Who Uses The SafeStraw
The SafeStraw is made for individuals with deficient oral motor skills. This is commonly diagnosed as dysphagia. Dysphagia is the difficulty of consuming liquids due to the inability to control the liquid bolus. The SafeStraw eliminates the need for manual control of fluid intake and allows the user to drink liquids more independently.
What to Expect
The SafeStraw can make drinking easy and a more independent task. The specialized valve and float system allows controlled liquid intake. The user no longer needs to tediously regulate fluid intake because the SafeStraw is designed to do it for he/she!
